During this chapter, Wright is still confused about the way that black-white interactions work. He can't seem to figure out how it all works, and he has questions that are not being answered. However, he knows, like all his black friends, that it is acceptable to make fun of the Jews. This shows that the kids may not completely grasp the whole enchilada, may not actually know what they're talking about it, but on some level they are comforting themselves. They are smart enough to see the whites living in better conditions, and they feel as if they are at the lowest rung compared to them. However, when they make fun of or taunt the Jews, they are no longer the worst, they can put someone else in that compartment, and make themselves feel better. This method was most likely handed down to them through their families and by simply watching how other blacks interacted with Jews. That is also how the white kids learned to treat the black kids differently, only now the black kids were doing it to some other group of people.

this sucks. i normally read your blog daily (even though you don't sit next to me in english anymore) so that i can get a laugh, and let me just say i was thoroughly disappointed when i selected "Aly's Blog" and found not a joke in sight. You made reading blog comments fun... and now i'm left with the humor level of reading the instructions on a shampoo bottle. i dont think my mind can take an further disappointment from this section of cyberspace. get your head in the game and crank up the funny a few notches. DON'T let this mistake happen again. i mean it
