I was all over this idea of a nonacademic education. While a nonacademic education definitely has to do with the teachers relationships, I also think that a part of nonacademic education is social. I am a firm believer that home schooling severely stunts students in their social skills, sometimes to the point that they may never be able to truly find a niche. I feel this way mostly because I myself have learned so much from the social aspect of schooling. While a lot of High School is 'drama' there are also a lot of valuable lessons to be learned from dealing with both people that you like and people that you cant stand. I feel like this teaches us how to better interact with the world around us, as a simple knowledge of a certain subject may not get us a job, but if we can connect with the interviewer, and be socially aware, it may propel us a few steps ahead of the crowd. Who knows, your very future may not depend on your SAT scores or your fancy degree, but your shared love for horse races with the person who is determining your future. Watch out world, Oprah's number one fan is on her way.

Aly-
I agree with you about your point that highschool, even though it is full of "drama", teaches people how to deal with social situations. If a person is homeschooled, they will rarely be put in these situations, and therefore, will not have that kind of experience later on in life. Good Job!
