The importance of the reality of this book is enormous. In fact, its whole merit is almost entirely based upon the fact that it is a true account. If this type of book were only a made - up story, people could then just write it off as an author's over zealous account of events they did not experience firsthand.
I think that this book is much more powerful and effective as rhetoric because of its nature, that is, the un - edited version. If it were a watered down version, edited to make politically correct America happy, it would be much less effective. The language and events serve to give the reader a much more even picture of the truths of the situations described. If the author were to take parts out, change things around, it would not be the real story. The real story is the truth people are seeking, the real story is what is the most effective in reaching an audience.
