Eustace is not a transcendentalist. He does agree with, and carry out, many different aspects of transcendentalism, but he also contradicts many parts of it. He definitely believes in nature- the man lives in a teepee. He knows that its useful, I mean, he literally survives off of nature. But, he doesn't take it to the next level. Yes, he is a spiritual man, but no, he does not find every blade of grass to be a divine being sent from God. He finds spiritualism in nature, but he does not find nature to be spirituality. I find it hard to believe that Emerson would do things that Eusatace does such as clearing land and changing nature to help himself. Eustace is one crazy cat but he is not a transcendentalist.

Aly,
We basically talked about the same points in this blog. But I actually liked your point about how he does not find every blade of grass divine, but Eustace is still a spiritual man. Good blog!
