This article talks about morals. (If you don't know what morals are, google it before continuing.) Anyways, the article says that basically everyone 'learns' or 'gets' their morals from church or school. This ties in with the book because much of it is about whether Wright is a moral person or not. However, I don't really think he got his morals from church or school. He only agrees to being baptized for the sake of his mother's social status and to save her embarrassment. Afterwards he feels no different about himself or his life, as do many of the other boys who had been baptized that same night. And as for school, Wright purposefully got in fights in order to be accepted and to fit in with his peers. At lunch he told stories of stealing food to gain popularity. None of these things strike me as 'moral.' But, if you were to ask where it was he actually did get his morals from, I would say that he actually exhibits morals throughout the book, so its hard to pinpoint one specific place or setting as this article does. Either way, Wright had morals, and a mean left hook.
